The first season of Peacock’s Poker Face, starring Orange Is the New Black and Russian Doll actress Natasha Lyonne as cocktail waitress Charlie Cale, ended March 9 with its last episode. Despite the 10-episode mystery-of-the-week series taking Charlie from the New Mexico desert to Kenosha dive bars, the majority of the stunning sets and locations seen onscreen were either crafted or found in upstate New York. Production designer Judy Rhee, who also designed Season 4 of Better Call Saul and directed two episodes of Breaking Bad, was responsible for turning the Hudson Valley into a myriad of different states, though the show did spend some time filming in Laughlin.

While Ulster County and the Hudson Valley mainly served as shooting locations for the TV show, parts of New Mexico and California were used as well. According to the Cinemaholic, locations in the town of Beacon in Dutchess County, including Towne Crier Cafe at 379 Main Street and Story Screen Beacon Theater at 445 Main Street, acted as Charlie’s primary hangouts. The hamlet of Fishkill and the village of Garrison also appeared in several scenes. In addition, the hamlet of Olivebridge and Tetta’s Market and Pizzeria at 2082 County Road 3 in Accord were important filming sites.

Throughout the show, a number of locations resembled the Frost Casino where Charlie was known to play, though the real-life establishment did not appear onscreen. In fact, the fictional casino was actually a fictional entity that the writers created for the show.

For the interior shots of the casino, the production team turned to various New York City buildings, including the Empire State Building and the Manhattan Municipal Building. Other locations filmed included the Mercantile Exchange and the Brooklyn Historical Society, the latter of which doubled as the casino’s gambling room. The production team also spent some time in the town of Hudson, where they filmed at the Olde Town Hall at 102 Wall Street and the former Newburgh Bank and Trust at 1 Wall Street.

The series primarily utilized the Umbra Studios at 9 Scobie Drive in Newburgh, which offers sound stages of all sizes, offices, ample parking space, green rooms and wardrobe areas. In addition, the studio has four cycloramas and a 5,000 square foot art department.

From April through October 2022, the production crew filmed in several upstate New York locations, including Ulster County and the Hudson Valley, as well as California and New Mexico. In addition to the locations mentioned above, some of the most prominent locales spotted during production include 294 NY-100 in New Paltz, 5 Felsen Lane in New Paltz, 71 NY-52 in Newburgh, Ireland Corners General Store at 1107 Main Street in Accord, Moriarty’s Service Station at 1005 Central Avenue SW in Hudson, Sal & Inez’s Services Station at 311 Main St. in New Paltz and Tetta’s Market and Pizzeria in the hamlet of Olivebridge.
